Getting Started

Does Singular POS process card payments?

No. Singular POS records cash and card sales but does not charge cards, accept contactless payments, or connect to a payment provider. Take the card payment in a separate payment app or on an external terminal, confirm it there, then record the sale in Singular POS. Turning on Card Payment only labels the sale as paid by card.

Where do I find each feature?

Use Cart to book items and extras, Tabs to manage unpaid orders, Receipts to review recorded sales, and Menu to create or edit your catalog. Settings contains sessions, reports, printers, receipt text, country settings, and catalog transfer.

How do I start selling?

Choose your country in Settings and add your items in Menu. Start a session in Settings, then open Cart and tap items to add them. If you tap an item without an active session, the app asks you to start one. A session groups the sales for a shift or trading period.

Do I need an account or internet connection?

No account is required. Your catalog, orders, and sales are stored locally on this device, and recording sales works offline. Purchases and restoring purchases require access to the App Store. Your separate payment app or terminal has its own connection requirements. Network printers need a connection to their local network.

How do I end a session?

Open Settings and tap End Session. Complete or remove everything in Cart and settle or void all open tab items first. Ending the session closes that trading period and makes its final report available in Session Reports.

Items and Extras

How do I create or edit an item?

Open Menu, choose Items, and tap the plus button. Enter a name, price, and tax rate, then confirm with the checkmark. To edit an existing item, tap its row in Menu. Closing the editor with the cross cancels your changes.

How do I create extras?

In Menu, switch to Extras and tap the plus button. Give the extra a name and price, then confirm. Extras are additions such as oat milk or an extra shot. They are attached to an item in Cart and use that item's tax rate; they do not have a separate tax field.

How do I delete or reorder my catalog?

In Menu, swipe left on an item or extra to delete it. Touch and hold a row, then drag it to change its position. Removing a catalog entry does not remove copies already booked in an order or recorded in a sale.

How do I search for an item or extra?

Tap the magnifying glass in Menu or Cart and type the beginning of a name. In Cart, search shows items when no order chip is selected and extras when a chip is selected. Close search to return to the full list.

Do catalog changes affect existing orders or receipts?

Orders keep a copy of the name, price, tax rate, extras, and printer routing from when the item was booked. Editing or deleting a catalog entry does not rewrite those orders or completed sales. To use the updated entry in Cart, remove the old booked item and add it again.

Cart

How do I book an item?

In Cart, tap an item's row to add one unit. Tap it again to add another unit. Each booked unit has its own chip in the horizontal bar above the bottom navigation. Swipe that bar sideways to see more chips. The amount at the top shows the order total.

How do I add extras to a booked item?

Tap the item's chip in the bottom bar. The chip becomes selected and the list switches to extras. Tap an extra to attach it to that item. The app then returns to the item list. To add another extra, select the same chip again. A label such as Coffee +2 means that two extras are attached.

How do I return from extras to items?

Tap the selected chip again to deselect it. The list returns to items. Selecting another chip lets you add an extra to that booked item instead.

How do I duplicate or delete a booked item?

Touch and hold its chip, then choose Duplicate or Delete. Duplicate adds another unit with the same extras. Delete removes that unit and all its attached extras from Cart; it does not delete the item from Menu.

How do I remove an extra from a booked item?

Extras cannot currently be removed individually from a booked item. Touch and hold the item's chip, choose Delete, then book the item again and add only the extras you want. Deleting an extra in Menu does not remove it from an existing order.

How do I clear the whole cart?

Tap the cross at the start of the bottom chip bar and confirm Clear Cart. This removes all booked items and their extras from Cart. It leaves your catalog, open tabs, and recorded sales unchanged.

What happens if I change tabs or close the app?

The bottom navigation stays available while you build an order. The cart is saved locally as part of the active session, so switching tabs or closing the app does not clear it. It is cleared when its items are sold, moved to an open tab, or removed. In landscape, Cart is shown beside the other tabs.

Checkout

How do I record a cash or card sale?

Tap Charge at the top right of Cart or beside an open tab. Leave Card Payment off for cash, or turn it on to record a card sale. For cards, complete and verify the payment in your separate app or terminal first. Tap the checkmark to save the sale. The cross closes checkout without recording a sale and keeps the unpaid order.

How do I apply a discount or tip?

Checkout shows Discount first, then Tip. Tap a field to open its keypad. Three percentage preset keys appear in the top row and act as regular buttons. Discount amounts have a minus sign; tips have a plus sign, followed by the percentage in parentheses. After a preset, the first digit starts a new amount; further digits continue that amount. For a custom amount, the equivalent percentage is shown where possible. The cross in an active field clears its amount. Tap the active field again to close the keypad, or tap another field to switch keypads. Discount percentages use the original total including tax; tip percentages use the total including tax after discount. Both percentages are calculated before cash rounding. Changing or clearing the discount also clears any tip and its applied percentage. Changing a tip keeps the discount. Tips are recorded separately without tax.

How do I change or hide discount and tip presets?

In Settings, open Discounts or Tips to edit its three whole-number percentages from 1 % to 100 %. The checkmark is enabled after a valid change. It saves your changes and closes the keypad while keeping the page open. The top-left cross discards unsaved changes and closes the keypad. Show Discounts and Show Tips independently control the corresponding checkout fields and preset keys. Both are on initially, with 10 %, 20 %, and 25 % presets. Enabled fields stay visible even when no amount is entered; preset keys appear when you select a field.

How do I calculate cash change?

For a cash sale, tap the large total at the top of Checkout. A separate keypad opens with the received amount on the left and the change amount on the right of its top row. Enter the amount the customer hands you; the change appears once the received amount covers the amount due. Use the delete key to correct an entry, or tap the large total again to close the keypad. Changing a discount, tip, or payment type clears the received amount. The calculator uses the payable total including any cash rounding and does not change the sale. When Card Payment is on, tapping the large total does not open this calculator.

Can I paste the checkout total into my payment app?

Checkout automatically copies the payable total when it opens and updates the clipboard when the total, discount, or tip changes. It copies a number with two decimal places and a decimal point, without a currency symbol. In your separate payment app, paste and verify the amount before taking the payment. Singular POS does not send or process the payment.

How do I print or share a receipt?

If a printer is configured, turn on Print Receipt in checkout before confirming. You can also open a recorded sale in Receipts and use Share to share a PDF, or Print to print it again. A Singular POS receipt records the sale you entered; it does not verify that an external card payment succeeded.

How do I find receipts from another day?

Open Receipts and tap the date at the top. A dot under a day means there is at least one receipt for that day on this device, including receipts from earlier sessions. Browse the calendar and select a day to show its receipts. Days without a dot can also be selected; they show No Receipts.

Can I refund a card payment in Singular POS?

No. Singular POS does not process payments or issue card refunds. Use the provider of the app or terminal that took the payment. Void in Tabs removes an unpaid item from an open order and records the void; it is not a refund of a completed sale.

Open Tabs

How do I save an order to a tab?

Add items and extras in Cart, then tap the stacked-rectangles button at the top. Enter a tab number and confirm. The items leave Cart and appear under that number in Tabs. Using the same number again adds more items to the existing tab.

How do I charge a whole tab or selected items?

Tap Charge beside a tab's total to check out all its items. To split an order, use the selection button in Tabs, select the items to pay for, and tap Charge. Only the selected items are sold; the others stay open.

How do I transfer items to another tab?

Use the selection button in Tabs, select the items, and tap Transfer. Enter the destination tab number and confirm. You can move part of a tab or combine items under another tab number.

How do I remove an unpaid tab item?

Leave selection mode, swipe left on the item in Tabs, and choose Void. The item and its extras are removed from the open tab and the void is kept in the session report. If prep printing is enabled, the app also sends a void ticket to the item's assigned printer.

Taxes and Country

How do I set a tax rate?

Open an item in Menu and tap Tax. Enter its percentage or tap one of the rate chips below the Tax field. The chips appear while Tax is selected and show rates already assigned to catalog items, plus 0 %. The bottom-left keypad button opens the decimal precision menu. Confirm the item to save the rate; there is no separate tax-name list to manage.

Which tax rate do new items and extras use?

A new item starts with the tax rate of the last newly created item you saved on this device. Check it before saving. Extras use the tax rate of the item they are attached to. Changing an item's tax rate affects future bookings, not existing orders or sales.

Are prices net or gross?

The selected country determines the currency, pricing mode, and cash rounding shown in Settings. Net prices exclude tax, which is added to the order. Gross prices already include tax. Country changes apply from the next session and do not rewrite existing sales. Country settings are available when no session is active.

How do discounts and tips affect tax?

A discount reduces the goods total including tax and is shared proportionally between the order's tax rate groups, including items with no tax. The app recalculates tax from the remaining amounts. Tips are added separately and are not taxed by the app. Cash rounding applies to the payment including any tip; whether it also changes the goods' tax depends on the session's saved rounding rule. If local rules require tax on a tip or service charge, do not enter it as an untaxed checkout tip. See Tax & Compliance Info in Settings for calculation details.

Does the app submit tax or fiscal reports?

No. The app calculates totals from the rates you enter and lets you export sales reports. It does not submit tax returns or mandatory fiscal reports and is not designed for jurisdictions that require certified fiscal devices or certified POS systems.

Printers and Receipts

How do I connect a printer?

In Settings, tap Printer, choose the manufacturer and connection, then tap Search Printers. Select a supported printer from the results. Singular POS supports compatible Star and Epson printers; connection options depend on the manufacturer. Open a configured printer to set its paper width, run a test print, or remove it.

What are Prep Printer and Receipt Printer?

Prep Printer is the default destination for preparation tickets. Receipt Printer is used for customer receipts and printed session reports. The first printer you add is selected for both roles. With multiple printers, choose each role separately in Settings.

What does Use Receipt Printer on an item do?

It routes that item's preparation and void tickets to Receipt Printer instead of Prep Printer. It does not automatically print a customer receipt. Set it in the item editor before booking the item. This option appears after a printer has been configured.

How do the ticket options work?

Print Prep Tickets sends preparation tickets when an order is saved to a tab or sold directly from Cart. Print Single Tickets prints separate tickets for individual items. Print Pickup Tickets prints a pickup ticket for an order sold directly from Cart. Settling an existing tab does not print its preparation tickets again.

What if printing fails?

Check the printer's power, paper, connection, manufacturer, and paper width, then try a test print from its settings. For LAN, make sure the device can reach the printer on its network and allow Local Network access when requested. For Bluetooth, check pairing and permissions. A print failure does not cancel a saved sale; find its receipt in Receipts before recording anything again.

How do I add receipt text?

When no session is active, use Add Receipt Header Line and Add Receipt Footer Line in Settings to enter your business details or a message. Tap a line to edit it and swipe left to delete it. These settings are copied into new sessions.

Reports and Data

How do I view or export session reports?

Open Settings > Session Reports and unlock with Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode. Select a session to review its sales, payment totals, taxes, discounts, tips, and voids. Use Share to export an Excel file or Print for a paper report. A device passcode is required to open reports.

How are discounts and tips shown in Excel reports?

The Session sheet totals the individual sales in Sale. Discount Amount is the reduction including tax. Net Amount and Tax Amount reflect discounted goods and any tax-adjusting cash rounding. Total excludes tips and cash rounding; Payable Total adds Tip Amount and Cash Rounding. The Sale Item and Void Item sheets keep original booked prices, with extras on separate rows. Discounts and tips are not allocated to those item rows. With Net pricing, receipts and displayed session reports show discounts excluding tax, while Excel shows the reduction including tax. Tips are always listed separately.

How do I transfer my catalog to another device?

With no active session, open Export Catalog in Settings on the source device. On the other device, open Import Catalog and scan the displayed codes with its camera. Keep the source screen visible until all codes have been read and confirm the import. Import replaces the receiving device's items, extras, and tax rates. It does not transfer or replace sales.

Do devices share sales or open tabs?

Singular POS keeps its data locally on each device. It does not provide live synchronization of carts, open tabs, or sales between devices. Catalog transfer copies the catalog only. Export each device's session reports if you want to analyze them together.

How do I keep a copy of my sales data?

Regularly export session reports and save them somewhere outside the app, such as Files or your computer. An Excel export is a report, not a full app backup, and cannot be imported to restore sales. Catalog transfer also does not back up sales. Deleting the app can remove its local data.

Free Use and Purchases

What can I use for free?

You can use and test every feature for free without a time limit while your catalog contains 10 items or fewer. The limit counts items in Menu, not the number of units sold or the number of sales. Extras are separate from this item count. With more than 10 catalog items, an active plan or pass is required to book items for sale.

How do I unlock a larger catalog?

Tap Unlock Pro in Settings to see the available plans and passes, their prices, and purchase terms. Monthly and annual plans are subscriptions; Today and Week passes provide temporary access without automatic renewal. The app shows your active access in Settings.

How do I restore purchases or manage a subscription?

Use Restore Purchases in Settings with the Apple Account that made the purchase. To manage or cancel a subscription, use your device's Settings > Apple Account > Subscriptions. Restoring a purchase restores eligible access, not the catalog, sales, or open orders from another device.
